'Digital where possible and personal where necessary?'

Dear clients, partners, and friends, We are happy to send you a new edition of our customer magazine: a 'special' on Personal Injury in Foreign Claims. Many of you attended our recent webinar on this topic and gave us feedback. We, therefore, thought that it would be a good idea to make this topic the main subject of our e-zine.

Personal injury in foreign claims

The crucial question in personal injury claims is: 'how can injury and suffering be compensated adequately so that all those involved, particularly the victim, are satisfied?' During our webinar, Professor Faure discussed whether the Netherlands could introduce an alternative claims settlement model relatively easily. His research has already led to a broad discussion within the Dutch Association of Insurers and many Dutch insurers. (Read a summary of his speech here).

The (un)feasibility of one model

On the one hand, your feedback during the webinar showed a great need for standardization of processes and compensation. However, on the other hand, many realized that there could be a unique and individual case behind every personal injury claim. Furthermore, we know that every country has a different standard and/or legislation, which sometimes leads to dissatisfaction and even frustration. In this magazine, you can read about the changing situation in this area in Poland, and Ian Bearpark, Country & BD Manager CBC, gives his view on the (un)feasibility of one European standardized model for personal injury settlement.

Digital vs. Personal

The questions about 'standard versus personal' also apply to other subjects. Such as with claims handling in general, the use of automated systems, contact centers, etcetera. When do we think a case can be handled automatically, and when should it be dealt with personally? In my opinion, the answer to this is not easy to find. CED puts it this way: 'Digital where possible, personal where necessary'. Based on this vision, we also develop our insurtech tools and IT applications. Our new CIO, Moncef Mestiri, also confirms that IT is the solution in any case (Read it here).

Merry Christmas

We are happy to share even more CED news: from takeovers to floods. And we are glad to be able to wish you happy holidays with friends and family.
